Cyclonic storm lashes Doomdooma circle

TINSUKIA: Severe cyclonic storm accompanied with heavy rain left a trail of devastation in several areas in Doomdooma circle during the past two days.

Extensive damage has been reported from Kakopathar, Talap, Dholla, Tipuk, Dirak, Phillobari and nearby areas. While many trees were uprooted and roofs of dwelling houses blown off, one Purnananda Gogoi (72) of Mridonpora Na-Macheki village sustained severe injuries. The uprooted trees snapped overhead electrical lines, including poles in many places. Standing crops, particularly ripened rice, faced the severity of the storm in vast areas of Kakopathar.
