Dabur India Ltd empowers girls in Tezpur village

Tezpur: Moving forward on its commitment to improving the lives of local communities, particularly girls, in Assam, India’s largest Science-based Ayurveda major Dabur India Ltd has commenced offering income-generating Vocational Training programmes for women in Tezpur. Thirty-Six girls from the local communities were awarded certificates after they completed the six-month training programme in two vocational skills – Stitching-Tailoring and Beauty Care.

The Certificate Distribution programme was organized by Dabur India Ltd’s CSR arm Jivanti Welfare and Charitable Trust, at Dhekidol village under Ghoramari Panchayat. Dabur India Ltd Tezpur Unit Head Alok Gupta, HR, and IR-Manager, Manjit Das were present on the occasion.

So far, 93 adolescent girls and women have completed vocational training programmes on Beautician and Stitching-Tailoring from the Vocational Training Centres being run Jivanti Welfare and Charitable Trust in Tezpur. Speaking on the occasion, Dabur India Ltd Tezpur Unit Head, Alok Gupta said: “At Dabur, community development is not merely a buzzword. It’s ingrained in our DNA. Vocational Training Programme is a key pillar of our CSR strategy as we believe that enhanced skill is both the means to a better life and a key to ensuring the overall development of the society. As the Government of India is also putting efforts into providing vocational skills under its Skill Development Mission, the initiatives of Dabur and Jivanti are aligned with the Government’s objectives in promoting skilled workforce from rural India.”
