LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has initiated due steps to conduct the ensuing Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) Election -2022 in transparent, free and fair manner in the seven DAC constituencies under the district.

As part of these steps, the district administration organized a meeting with the contestants, representatives of the political parties on Wednesday. The meeting was organized in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Manoj Kumar Baruah. In the meeting, DDC of Dhemaji district, Arup Pathak, who was appointed as the DAC Election Observer of Lakhimpur district was present. In addition to him, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner-in charge of Lakhimpur-cum-Returning Officer Sanjib Doloi, Returning Officers Geetalee Dueorah, Manorama Morang, officer-in charge of Expenditure Cell Kulbhushan Pegu and other officers of the district administration.

In the meeting, detailed discussion was held over the limit of the contestants' expenditure, DAC Election related directives issued by the State Election Commission (SEC), rules and regulations to be adhered to by the contestants, political parties during the conduct of election campaign and other related issues. Notably, a contestant of the DAC Election can spend a maximum amount of Rs. 2,50,000. Campaign can be conducted until 4:00 pm of October 6. In the meeting, DDC Manoj Kumar Baruah appealed to all concerned to extend comprehensive cooperation to the district administration in order to conduct the election free, fair and transparent manner.

On the other hand, Election Observer Arup Pathak, in the meeting, apprised the directives issued by the SEC regarding the DAC Election and extended his greetings to the contestants and the political parties.
