DHUBRI: Like previous years, this year too Dhubri Kalibari distributed kula, sari and other Chhath Puja items among the needy devotees who otherwise couldn’t perform the three-day rituals in the temple premises on Tuesday. The event was attended by Kalibari Secretary, Rabindranath Roy, Co-Secretaries, Gaur Chandra Pal, Chartered Accountant (CA), Dhirendra Surana, senior journalist, Tarakeshwar Pal and the members of Kalibari Trustee Board.

Talking to The Sentinel, a trustee member of the board, Dipankar Mazumder informed that Dhubri is a place of religious and cultural confluence and here all the festival are celebrated with much pomp and gaiety and so items were distributed among the devotees. This year Dhubri district administration sanctioned 500 quintals of wheat for the devotees at the controlled rate to Dhubri Chhat Puja Committee and it was distributed at Devnagri L.P. School premises on Wednesday.

Talking The Sentinel, working president, Lakhi Razak informed that distribution of wheat started from today and will continue for couple of days.

“There are eight ghats in Dhubri town alone while altogether 21 ghats are there across rest of the district including Gauripur, Golokganj, Agomoni Bogribari, Sapatgram, Bilasipara, and Chapor. All the ghats have been in the meantime cleaned and district administration is taking security measures to conduct the Chhath Puja peacefully,” Razak added.
