Dance workshop Organized by Nrityaban, Lakhimpur concludes successfully

LAKHIMPUR, July 22: The eight-day long dance workshop organized by Nrityaban, a leading cultural institution of Lakhimpur district, concluded on Saturday with grand success. The workshop was organized in collaboration with North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) with the participation of a total of 70 dance trainees. Bornali Mahanta, Principal of Bornali Dance Academy, Nalbari, folk dance artiste Jeena Rajkumari Goswami and Mayuri Dutta, Principal of Nrityaban, participated in the workshop as trainers. The concluding ceremony of the workshop, which began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Jeena Rajkumari Goswami, was held in the auditorium of the college in a befitting manner.

Dr. Biman Chandra Chetia, Principal of the college, inaugurated the event in which renowned theatre personality Najim Ahmed was given warm felicitation while Britti Priya Das, who secured highest marks in the HSLC examination as a student of Nrityaban, was conferred the Tankeswar Dutta Memorial Award by Dimbeswari Dutta.

In the programme, artistes of Nrityaban presented Kathak dance, Xattriya dance along with Tiwa and Deori folk dances. Mary Kardong, a differently- abled dancer won applause of the audience for performing a creative dance based on Bhupendra Sangeet. Retired DEEO, Jiban Chandra Dutta, retired Principal Beena Dutta, and professor Diganta Kalita were among those who were present in the programme. A poetry recitation was also held.
