MANGALDAI: In a positive development, Darrang district has been selected for the 'Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2019', in the implementation of 'Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana 'Saubhagya' in the group North East & Hill States.
Darrang Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah, informing about the award, said that Darrang has performed exceptionally in the implementation of the Saubhagya scheme as all targeted households in the district have been provided power connections under the scheme within the stipulated timeframe.
He congratulated the implementing agencies for this achievement and expressed optimism that this would inspire all government departments in the district to deliver quality public service. "The award will inspire us to perform better in public service delivery," said the Deputy Commissioner of Darrang while talking to The Sentinel this evening.
Significantly the then Deputy Commissioner of Darrang Ashok Kumar Barman presently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat along with the Deputy Commissioner of Darrang Pranab Kumar Sarma has also been invited to the award presenting function.
It may be mentioned here that the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2019' consists of a trophy, a scroll and an incentive of Rs 10 lakhs to the awardee district. The award will be presented at Civil Services Day 2022 to be held on April 20 and 21 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
