MANGALDAI: The Darrang district has topped the list in the HSSLC Examination (Arts) of overall percentage of success with 89.07% against the state rate of percentage of 78.28%.

Pubali Deka grabbed the first position in Arts stream of HS final year examinations and Mayurika Deka got the third position followed by Manashi Saharia, who secured the 4th rank in the examinations.

A total of 5,049 candidates appeared in the exams out of which 4,497 have been qualified for higher education. 1,023 students secured the first division, 1,717 got the second division and 1,757 candidates secured the third division. In the commerce stream, out of 754 candidates, 197 secured first division, 270 got second division while 227 candidates secured the third division with the total pass percentage of 92.04 per cent. Similarly, in the Science stream, a total of 1,123 candidates appeared out of which 518 secured the first division, 436 got second division while 65 secured the third division with the overall pass percentage of 90.74 per cent.

On the other hand, of the total 19 government Higher Secondary schools, Outala HS School in the Arts stream has been continuing their journey of success with the 100 per cent passing rate for the fourth consecutive year. Rajghat HS School and Sipajhar HS and MP School this year have reflected the total rate of success with 100 per cent. The non provincialized Dahi Junior College has shown the pass percentage of 99% this year. The most significant point to note here is that these 19 government Higher Secondary schools of the district are functioning without 55 subject teachers. It reflects the lackadaisical and indifferent attitude of the State government towards these government academic institutions.
