Darrang Police arrested 2 drug peddlers, recovered 98 bottles of Crotus cough syrup

MANGALDAI: Darrang Police, in their continuing operation against the organized gang of drugs peddlers, arrested two youths and recovered 98 bottles of Crotus cough syrup from their possession.

Following the instruction from Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, Town Branch in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Sub Inspector Hrishikesh Barman and Sub Inspector (Probation) Dantejit Deuri on Thursday at about 4 pm, intercepted two motorcycle-borne youth at village Pakabangipara on NH-15 and recovered the cough syrup bottles.

Both the arrested drugs peddlers - Rafiqul Ali (29) and Nekimuddin Ahmed (25)of village Alta Islampur near Mandakata under Baihata Police Station in Kamrup (rural) district - have already confessed their involvement in the peddling of drugs. Both have been arrested as per the provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.
