Darrang Police distribute food items among the poor

MANGALDAI: Darrang Police, under the bold command of Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, while initiating strict measures against the violators of the countrywide lockdown in the district, at the same time have taken up some praiseworthy steps for the economically downtrodden section in various places.

In view of non-availability of the essential food commodities to the poorer section,

as per instruction of Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, a team of Mangaldai Police Station on Saturday offered rice, dal, potato, onion, salt, mustard oil, biscuits and other essential items among the poor people living in Lachit Nagar, Baruapara, Tengabari, Natun Para, Chamuapara and Bolopara areas under the Police Station.

Chandan Das, Latuk Das and Dantejit Deuri, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ganiruddin Ahmed accompanied by other staff took part in the distribution programme. The team also took part in awareness campaign in several villages about the precautionary measures against coronavirus.

“I also contributed a sum of Rs 1, 50,000 towards the CM Relief Fund here in Tinsukia on Saturday during a meeting with the Chief Minister at the office of the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner,” said Phukan.

Meanwhile, the MLA also slammed the present Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation, Assam Oil Division for being ‘indifferent’ towards the cause of the people and the place.
