DC calls upon people to maintain law and order

Dibrugarh: The Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha has called upon all sections of people to extend their cooperation for the interest of maintaining law and order situation in the district. Expressing serious concern over excessive floating of rumours, DC Jha appealed all to restrain from spreading rumours of any form and if necessary, one can clarify it either from district or police administration.

Referring various claims that the army was deployed at Bakul and Chabua and curfew has been imposed in these areas, DC discarded all claims as rumours. He also clarified that there was no causality in police firing in the district.

The anti-CAB stir gained spontaneity from morning of Wednesday. People voluntarily came out from all corners and participated at the procession and cycle rallies which after passing through main road later assembled either at Thana Chariali and DC office. The procession was brought out in several corners of the town raising anti-CAB slogans. The police resorted to blank fire as the situation in Bakul and poly technique institute at Lahoal became out of control. As a result, all total 13 girl students of the institute sustained injury who are undergoing treatment at Assam Medical College & Hospital.
