DCC demands to increase legislative assembly seats in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: The Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DCC) has appealed to all the political and social organizations of Dima Hasao to raise the demand for increasing Legislative Assembly Constituency seats for Dima Hasao considering the future of their next generation.

Aripom Bodo, vice-president of Dima Hasao DCC, addressed a press meet held at Rajiv Bhavan on Thursday. He said that despite a long-pending demand to increase Legislative Assembly (LA) seats in Dima Hasao, there was no mention of Dima Hasao in the recently published draft. On the other hand, the district of Karbi Anglong got another seat in the draft i.e, earlier there were 4 LA seats and now Karbi Anglong will get one more LA seat.

Dima Hasao DDC had submitted a memorandum to the Delimitation Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, through the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Haflong on March 23 demanding renaming of the existing 16 Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency as 111 Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency and if there was any proposal for increasing parliamentary or Assembly constituencies in the near future then a separate (ST) Parliamentary Constituency for Dima Hasao district and another (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency should be created in the district of Dima Hasao.
