DDMA meeting held to approve schemes for restoration works in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: A meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kokrajhar under the chairmanship of Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office to approve the schemes submitted by various departments for temporary restoration work under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by MLA of 30-Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC, Lawrence Islary, MLA of 28-Gosaigaon LAC, Jiron Basumatary, MLA of 31-Sidli (ST) LAC, Jayanta Basumatary, MLA of Bilasipara East LAC, Samsul Huda, senior officers, Circle Officers and heads of line departments.

During the meeting, the house approved various rehabilitation grants in case of damage to houses as well as temporary restoration works under the line departments as per SDRF guidelines. Proposals submitted by departments, including Water Resources, PWD Rural Roads, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, Irrigation, Handloom and Textiles, Agriculture, Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited etc. along with block development wise proposals and RG proposals of Revenue Circles were approved by the house for onward submission to the State Government.

The house also reviewed further preparedness measures for relief and rehabilitation works. DC Varnali Deka appreciated the sincere efforts and hard work put in by all officers of the administration and line departments in the last wave of floods and asked all officials to remain alert.
