Debate Competition organized by District Legal Services Authority, Udalguri

TANGLA: “The Constitution, being the longest surviving constitution with democratic principles in heart and soul, needs to be abridged now. Due to its complications in understanding, general citizens are still unaware of its fruits and if it is abridged keeping the core value, it will be easily understandable and also smoothly applicable.” This echoed during the debate competition held on Thursday at Aspire Junior College in Udalguri town which was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA ) Udalguri in association with the Aspire Junior College.

A total of eleven selected students from Udalguri, Tangla, Udalguri and Rowta areas participated in the debate and pointed out various loopholes and merits of the Constitution. Hirakjyoti Rabha of Tangla College bagged the first prize, while Ankita Devi of Asford Junior College and Ashok Limbu of Aspire Junior College bagged the second and third prizes respectively.

Addressing the congregation, Chief Judicial Magistrate of Udalguri court, Mridul Kumar Saikia exhorted the students to pursue higher studies in law and serve the nation. He also appreciated the way of presentation by each participant. Senior journalist, Rewati Raman Sapkota and teacher, Anjima Daimari were the judges while Assistant Professor of Udalguri College, Prasenjit Daimari conducted the house as the Speaker. Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Udalguri, Kingkini Borah was also present on the occasion.
