Decade of good governance, prosperity & progress under Modi government: Sarbananda Sonowal

DIBRUGARH: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal, reaffirmed the transformative impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s more than a decade-long leadership, highlighting the progress made in Assam and the Northeast during multiple engagements across Dibrugarh district on Friday.

The day began with the minister offering prayers at the revered Maa Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati after attending the Ambubachi Mela.

Seeking the well-being of the people, Sonowal participated in the early morning rituals before proceeding to Dibrugarh, where he visited the Shri Jagannath Temple and took part in the Rath Yatra celebrations. Immersed in the spiritual atmosphere, Sonowal joined hundreds of devotees in paying homage during the sacred procession.

Later in the day, the Dibrugarh MP attended the Executive Meeting of the BJP’s Moran Mandal at the Tiloi Gramya Bazar Multipurpose Auditorium, where he reviewed party activities and strategies for strengthening the organization at the grassroots-level.

Joining the minister at various moments during the day were Assam Minister Bimal Borah, Khumtai MLA Chakradhar Gogoi, Dibrugarh district BJP President Dulal Bora, general secretaries Sushil Tasa and Ranjit Baruah, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC), Mayor Saikat Patra, the Chairman of Dibrugarh Development Authority (DDA), Akhim Hazarika, several Mandal presidents, and numerous party karyakartas and local residents.

“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Assam and the entire Northeast have reached new heights of development. The BJP is now the party of the people’s hope and trust,” said Sonowal. “It is this party that empowered a grassroots worker like me, and I have dedicated myself wholly to its service,” he affirmed.

Sonowal further added, “The remarkable progress India has made over the past 11 years would have been unthinkable before 2014. From being the tenth-largest economy, India has risen to become the fourth-largest globally—and we are on track to enter the top three by 2030. This has only been possible because of the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.”

Sonowal highlighted Prime Minister Modi for redefining governance through a focus on transparency, development, and empowerment. Sonowal noted that the Northeast, long overlooked during Congress rule, has received unprecedented attention under the current government.

“PM Modi has focussed on the development and progress of the Northeast more than any other Prime Minister in Indian history. It is his untiring effort that has resulted in unprecedented progress in a peaceful environment,” Sonowal said.
