TINSUKIA: Though the cause of death of Arnab Kishor Bordoloi (25), a senior electrical engineer of OIL who died on September 9 at Baghjan BGR 5 blowout site, has been established to be due to electrocution as per post-mortem report, Arnab's father Bijit Kumar Bordoloi felt disgruntled after OIL authority allegedly attempted to mislead the family over the clarification that the family had sought from OIL on the circumstances leading to the incident.

OIL CMD Sushil Chandra Mishra, in a condolence message on September 14, while expressing grief, wondered how the incident took place 'despite all laid down protocol' and assured to take action against any lapse following the findings of the internal inquiry and by statutory bodies that contravened the demands of the parents who earlier sought an external investigation, besides other clarifications, in their letter of September 12. The CMD's letter also misquoted that the Head of the Electrical Department (OIL) who visited Bordoloi's place had clarified most of the queries, which Bordoloi had disagreed.

Deeply anguished, Bordoloi, in his second letter to the CMD on September 16, copies of which were sent to the Prime Minister's office, Ministry of Petroleum and Gas and Chief Minister of Assam seeking their intervention, stated that as his earlier queries (September 12) remained unanswered. He again reiterated for an external investigation and desired that his queries should be addressed officially and professionally in a para-wise written manner, especially when death was 'avoidable by all means', Bordoloi claimed.
