Decomposed body of youth recovered from Sindura river in Katigorah

SILCHAR: As feared, the decomposed body of Soubhik Sarkar, missing since Sunday, was finally recovered on Wednesday at the downstream of Sindura river near Khelma in Katigorah. The 24-year-old Soubhik was swept away by a sudden wave after he had plunged into the Sindura river to save his friend Bishal Ghose. Seven friends, all from Badarpur, had gone to Kalain to beat the summer heat at Sindura river. But a sudden wave first swept away Bishal. Soubhik, in a desperate move, jumped in the river to save his friend. But he was washed away in the river. Other friends somehow managed to recover Bishal who had already succumbed.

On Wednesday morning, the decomposed body of Soubhik was first noticed by an auto rickshaw driver who raised an alarm. Subsequently, the police arrived, recovered the body, and sent it to Silchar Medical College & Hospital for post mortem.
