TANGLA: The Delhi Bodo Thunlai Afad (DBTA) Delhi Bodo Sahitya Sabha celebrated the 70th annual foundation day of Bodo Sahitya Sabha at Bodoland Bhavan in New Delhi on November 16.

The event witnessed a pompous gathering of the Bodo diasporic community and the intellectuals residing in national capital. The day-long programme started with the flag hoisting of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha by the president of DBTA, Dr Nirala Ramchiary. The event had various exuberant performances of poetry recitation, songs, dances, and intellectual discussions. In the programme, the electronic magazine titled 'Rajtaoni Laisi' was inaugurated by the chief guest of the event, Captain Hemanta Kumar Brahma.

General secretary of Bodo Radio and Television Artist Association, Brajendra Basumatary graced the occasion as the guest of honour and presented the gathering with melodious Bodo songs and renditions, to the extreme delight of the diasporic community.

President of DBTA, Dr Nirala Ramchiary, a faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, in her inaugural speech said, "Those communities which do not speak and engage with their language, literature, and culture, they stand to lose their identity. If we do not keep our language, literature, and culture alive, through frequent discussions and engagements, we will be answerable to the larger Bodo community for generations to come."

Vice-president of DBTA, Dr Alongbar Wary a faculty of Indira Gandhi Technical University for Women, New Delhi, also expressed the desire for extensive literary engagements to increase the community's literary gamut. He called upon the wider Bodo diaspora and the well-wishers of the community to extend their support. He also made fervent appeal to the larger Bodo diaspora, including intellectuals and thinkers to come forward to act in the larger interest of the community.
