Demand for Action Against School for Remaining Open on State Holiday

PATHSALA: The Assam government had declared a holiday on Tuesday for Srimanta Sankadev’s tithi under the NI Act. However, defying the government order, Christ Jyoti School at Haripur, Pathsala, remained open and this has not gone down well with organizations like BJP Yuba Morcha and AJYCP. The school was kept open today. The Pathsala committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP), led by president Biswajit Talukdar, along with the members of BJP Yuva Morcha Bajali zila committee, arrived at the school and when they asked the school authorities was to why the government’s order had not been followed, the school authorities allegedly expressed ignorance about the great saint Sankardev.

The AJYCP and BJP Yuva Morcha urged the school authorities to respect the culture of the State. Mridul Talukdar, president of the Bajali zila committee of AJYCP, appealed to the government to take steps against the school for violating the government’s direction.
