Demand for implementation of inner line permit system

Joysagar, May 16: Various organizations like Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, Garia-Moria-Deshi Parishad, All Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Jatiya Mahila Parishad, Sanmilita Gana Mancha and Muslim Kalyan Parishad on Wednesday jointly submitted a memorandum addressed to the Union Home Ministry and PMO where the organizations demanded implementation of the inner line permit system in Assam. The leaders of the organizations said that Assam was facing a threat to its identity and demography. It had become a dumping ground for illegal foreigners and the Union government was further planning to give citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshis. This would further increase the population burden of the State. Hence, the inner line permit was necessary, they said.
