BISWANATH CHARIALI: Different social, student and commercial organizations along with the print and electronic media have welcomed the decision of the Indian Railways for starting the plying of Dibrugarh-New Delhi bi-weekly Rajdhani Express through the northern railway track of the Brahmaputra, which had been a long-standing demand of the people of this part of the region. But at the same time, they have also expressed grave concern over the fact that the newly-started biweekly Rajdhani Express does not have any stoppage at Viswanath Chariali Railway Station in the schedule so far, thereby depriving the people of entire Biswanath district from its service.

In a memorandum submitted to the Divisional Railway Manager, Rangia Division, copy of which was sent to the Union Railway Minister, on Saturday, the organizations said that Biswanath Chariali was itself the district headquarter which is 65 km away from Rangapara. Moreover, here in Biswanath Chariali many central government institutions are located like Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya, Farm Machinery and Testing Institute and Power Grid Station. The employees of these institutions very frequently make to and fro trips to New Delhi for official purposes. In the meanwhile, public opinion has been created in favour of providing a stoppage at Viswanath Chariali Railway Station. Therefore, the organizations urged the authorities concerned to provide the required minimum time stoppage of both the trains at Viswanath Chariali Railway Station.

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sonitpur situated at Biswanath Chariali has also requested for the same by opining that near about 550 students along with a good number of staff selected on national level from various parts of the country stay in the campus. For communicating with the rest of the country, initiation of one stoppage at Viswanath Chariali Railway Station was needed. Besides, the school has 'National Migration Policy' under which students from Hindi belt come to stay for one year in Class IX and vice versa. At present, the Vidyalaya is linked with JNV Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh for which one stoppage of Rajdhani Express at Viswanath Chariali Station is the need of the hour as far as the safety and security of the students are concerned. On the other hand, the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Biswanath Chariali has been the centre of various national games and cluster level games conducted by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi. During the meet, the Vidyalaya becomes a pageant of students from various parts of the country. From this point of view also one station of Rajdhani Express will be helpful for students along with other dignitaries.
