Demand to operate passenger trains in Gouripur-Jogighopa route

BILASIPARA: The New Moinaguri-Jogighopa Railway Project was sanctioned in the year 2000 and in the year 2001, the then railway minister Mamata Bannerjee had laid the foundation stone at New Moinaguri and the construction works had started.

After 20 years of construction, both goods and passenger trains started operation in the route. In the Gouripur-Jogighopa route only goods trains have been operating since the last two years. This has caused great inconvenience to the people of Dhubri, Bongaigaon and Goalpara districts.

Dayal Paul, one of the active members of the New Moinaguri-Jogighopa Railway Demand Committee, in a press statement demanded immediate operation of passenger trains in the route.
