Dembi Ram Panging conferred Ambedkar Educational Award for social contribution

GAURISAGAR: An award presentation and felicitation ceremony for meritorious students was held recently at the Dr Madhav Chandra Das auditorium of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. The event was organized by Ambedkar Foundation Assam, an organization dedicated to promoting the ideals of social justice, equality and fraternity, inspired by the vision of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.

At this significant event, the Ambedkar Educational Award was conferred upon Dembi Ram Panging, the Working President of the All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association (AISCSTEWA), ONGC. 

Speaking to the media after receiving the award, Panging said, “When an organization acknowledges someone’s work and presents an award, it significantly increases the social responsibility of the recipient. It means that the community recognizes and places its trust in that individual. There remains much to be done for society, and such honours only strengthen one’s commitment. I may not know exactly what I can do for society, but receiving the Ambedkar Educational Award, named after the architect of the Indian Constitution, is overwhelming. I humbly express my gratitude to the Ambedkar Foundation for selecting an ordinary person like me for this prestigious award.”

The ceremony highlighted the foundation’s ongoing efforts to inspire future generations and honour those working selflessly for the upliftment of marginalized communities.
