DEMOW: The incident which took place in Demow Model Hospital on Monday night has left people confused. At first it was alleged that a doctor was physically assaulted by two youths and even the doctor said so. But another video was circulated on social media where the same doctor was seen hitting the two youths. The question arises as to what actually had happened in Demow Model Hospital that day?

Regarding this, Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA), Demow Branch president Bichitra Tanti and secretary Biswajit Nag submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar on Wednesday. In the memorandum, they stated that on August 2 under Demow Revenue Circle, Deben Tanti, an inhabitant of Haru Deroi, and Ganesh Ghasi, an inhabitant of Athabari Hiloidari Gaon, had taken their relative, who was injured after falling from a tree, to Demow Model Hospital. They had verbal spat with the doctor over administering injection to the patient. At that time Dr. SJ Taye was on duty. A chaotic situation took place. In the video circulated on social media, it was seen that Dr SJ Taye attacked Deben Tanti and Ganesh Ghasi. They alleged that the doctor went on hitting them even after they apologized to him, for which they were injured.

ATTSA, Demow branch has demanded the release of Deben Tanti and Ganesh Ghasi and proper investigation against Dr SJ Taye. They also demanded that he should be suspended.

A copy of the memorandum was sent to the State Health Minister, Joint Director Health Services, Sivasagar, Demow Circle Officer, OC of Demow Police Station and president and secretary of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha, Moran Branch, on Wednesday.

The All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA), Demow Regional Committee also submitted memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar through Demow Circle Officer on Wednesday on the same matter.
