LAKHIMPUR: With October 19 being the last date for the submission of the nomination papers for the Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) Election, 2022, a total of 26 candidates filed nominations for seven DAC constituencies falling under Lakhimpur district. Out of them, 20 candidates filed their nomination on Wednesday while 6 candidates filed the same on Monday.
On Wednesday, BJP candidate Amrit Prava Deori, Congress candidate Mahesh Deori, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Umesh Deori, independent candidate Kamandar Deori filed their nomination for No. 15 Bor Deori Constituency (ST). AGP candidate Nandita Deori, Congress candidate Minu Deori, independent candidates Najitara Deori and Priyanka Deori submitted nominations for No. 16 Bahgora Constituency (ST, Woman).
On the other hand, BJP candidate Uttam Deori and independent candidate Dipak Deori filed nominations for their candidature for No. 17 Kachikota Constituency (ST). BJP candidate Jurimai Deori, independent candidates Pushpanjali Deori and Rinkumoni Deori submitted nominations for No. 18 Pisala Cnstituency (ST, Woman). BJP candidate Bishnu Kumar Deori, AAP candidate Haribrat Deori, independent candidate Mitra Kumar Deori submitted nominations for No. 19 Kina Pothar Constituency (ST)
Congress candidate Dipak Deori, BJP candidate Prafulla Deori, independent candidates Manmohan Deori and Ratneswar Deori filed nominations for No. 20 Bongalmora Constituency (ST). On the other hand, BJP candidate Rama Deori filed nomination for No. 21 Gabharu Tunijan Constituency (ST). Notably, independent candidate Shivasis Deori filed nomination for No. 15 Bor Deori Constituency (ST), Joyamai Deori filed nomination for No. 16 Bahgora Constituency (ST, Woman), Biren Deori filed nomination for No. 17 Kachikota Constituency (ST), Moni Deori filed nomination for No. 18 Pisala Cnstituency (ST, Woman), Mahesh Deori filed nomination for No. 21 Gabharu Tunijan Constituency (ST). On the other hand, Bijumoni Deori filed two nominations for No. 19 Kina Pothar Constituency (ST). No candidate filed nomination for No. 20 Bongalmora Constituency (ST) on Monday.
Though Congress gave ticket to Hari Prashad Deori as candidate for No. 19 Kina Pothar Constituency (ST), he did not submit nomination. Ruling party BJP has fielded six candidates out of seven DAC constituencies under the Lakhimpur district, leaving one seat to its alliance party, AGP. On the other hand, Congress has fielded its candidates in two seats only.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 20 while the last date for candidates to withdraw nomination is October 25. On the same day, the final list of the candidates will be announced.
