DEMOW: At a time when the State Government is talking about development, various areas are yet to be development. This is the case in 107 No. Thowra Constituency of Sivasagar district.

In Thowra constituency, Bokota mouza, Demow mouza and Thowra mouza, which connect the road to Deroi River, and the Deoriting Bamboo Bridge over the Deroi River are in a poor condition due to which the local people are facing problems. With increase in the water level of Deroi River, at any time the bamboo bridge may be washed away.

The people of Bokota, Nemuguri, Barbam and Bakhar Begena gaon panchayats use this bamboo bridge for communication. In 2015, when Sushanta Borgohain was the MLA of Thowra constituency, the foundation stone for a concrete bridge was laid and four posts were built but till now no further work has been done. The locals have urged Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain and the State Government to build the concrete bridge soon.
