TEZPUR: Along with the rest of the state, Deshbhakti Divas was observed at a solemn function organized by the office of the District Information and Public Relations Officer, Sonitpur, in association with the Sonitpur district administration.
On the occasion of the 83rd death anniversary of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan on Thursday, a shradhanjali programme was organized at Bhupen Hazarika Kalabhumi where Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra offered floral tributes at the portrait of the great freedom fighter and spoke briefly about the life of Tarun Ram Phukan and his immense contribution in the freedom struggle of the country.
CEO, ZP, Karabi Saikia, ADC Dyotiva Bora, DIPRO Neena Baruah and other senior officials of the district administration were present in the programme.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner inaugurated a street play on the life of Tarun Ram Phukan at Court Chariali. The play was performed by Abir Natya Goshti in several locations of Tezpur town with the aim to make the people aware about the immense contribution of Tarun Ram Phukan towards the freedom struggle, especially the non-cooperation movement started by Mahatma Gandhi.
LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the State, Deshbhakti Divas was observed across the Lakhimpur district on the 83rd birth anniversary of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan in order to commemorate his noble contributions towards the Freedom Movement of India. In the district, the event was observed under the auspices of the District Information and Public Relation Office in association with the district administration.
On this occasion, a symposium on 'The contribution of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan towards the Freedom Movement of India' was organized under the management of the District Information and Public Relation Officer (DIPRO) Mandira Chayengiya. The agenda of the event began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by District Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Baruah, who attended the event as the chief guest. He also paid floral tribute to the portrait of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan.
In the event, North Lakhimpur Press Club president-cum-senior journalist Kumud Baruah took part as resource person who threw light upon how Tarun Ram Phukan led the 'Swaraj Andolan' in Assam against the colonial rule of the British and inspired the youths of the State with patriotism. On the other hand, Lakhimpur district unit Freedom Fighters' Association president Bholanath Nagariya, as invited guest, commemorated the noble figure of the State by highlighting his patriotism, honesty, ideology of non- violence and efficiency of leading people. In the event, Lakhimpur Sachetan Nagarik Mancha secretary Sajjad Hazarika appreciated the State Government for initiating step from last year to observe the Deshbhakti Divas to commemorate Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan to realize his ideology of patriotism in the society. The officers and employees of the district administration, freedom fighters, senior citizens, journalists of the district were among those who were present in the event.
On the other hand, as per initiative taken by Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, DIPRO Mandira Chayengiya and Inspector of Schools Dr Ramesh Chandra Chutia, the Deshbhakti Divas was observed in all the LP, ME, Higher Secondary, Senior Secondary schools of the district. On this occasion, speech programmes were organized in the schools after the morning assembly, wherein students, teachers took part and paid rich tribute to Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan.
KOKRAJHAR: The death anniversary of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan was observed in Chirang district along with other parts of the state. On the occasion, the Chirang district administration observed the Deshbhakti Divas at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, Kajalgaon where Chirang Deputy Commissioner P Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy lit a shradhanjali lamp and laid wreaths at the portrait of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan. Other officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Ringkhang Mashahary, Assistant Commissioners and heads of various departments also laid wreaths at the portrait of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan.
In a separate programme organized by the District Information and Public Relations Office, Chirang at their office premises at Kajalgaon, attending as chief guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ringkhang Mashahary lit the shradhanjali lamp and academician and litterateur Hareswar Basumatary paid floral tributes to the portrait of Desh Bhakta Tarun Ram Phukan as resource person of the programme.
During the programme, saplings were planted by the dignitaries at the premises of District Information and Public Relations Officer's office, Kajalgaon.
The programme was addressed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ringkhang Mashahary, resource person Hareswar Basumatary and Secretary of Chirang District Press Club Jayanta Debnath. They highlighted the significance of the day and spoke about the life history of DeshbhaktaTarun Ram Phukan and his contributions to the freedom movement of India.
The Bijni Subdivisional Information and Public Relations Officer, in collaboration with Subdivisional Officer (Civil), Bijni also observed the Deshbhakti Divas at the Subdivisional Officer's office. Noted social worker Sabir Kumar Das lit the shradhanjali lamp and paid homage to Desh Bhakta Tarun Ram Phukan. The events were attended by media persons of Chirang district.
TINSUKIA: The Deshbhakti Divas to commemorate death anniversary of Deshbhakt Tarun Ram Phukan was observed at Tinsukia under the aegis of Tinsukia district administration and DIPR at Pensioners' Bhavan with the participation of distinguished personalities.
The key speaker, Dr Achyut Borthakur dwelt at length on the selflessness and spirit of patriotism of Tarun Ram Phukan. The other speakers- Munindra Bordoloi, CEO Tinsukia Zilla Parishad, Thaneswar Das, former DC, BC Borah, journalist Amalya Khatoniar also highlighted Deshbhaka's contribution to the freedom struggle. Earlier Mamoon Borkakoty, DIPR Tinsukia, laid the objective of the meeting.
Meanwhile, Deshbhakti Divas was also observed in the conference hall of the office of the Block Development officer, Margherita. The programme was organized by the Office of the Subdivisional Information & Public Relations Officer, Margherita in association with the Subdivisional (Civil) Officer, Margherita.
Palash Rajkumar Ahom, ADC i/c. Margherita, after lighting the ceremonial lamp, paid rich homage to the Deshbhakt and remarked on the multiple feats achieved by him. Interesting speeches on the life and achievements of Tarun Ram Phukan and especially on the importance of the celebration of Deshbhakti Divas were delivered by the guest presenter, Dr Ramen Hazarika of Margherita College, and other special guests.
