GOALPARA: ‘The developmental works and the conservation of nature should go hand in hand and nature shouldn’t be harmed at any cost for the developmental works,” remarked Adil Hussain, renowned cine actor on Saturday in his native town Goalpara. The famed actor was talking to the media persons and referring to the recent widening of National Highway-17 and State Highway-46 in Goalpara district for which thousands of roadside Sal trees had to be cut down which deeply saddened him. He opined that development is necessary and for that the authorities should come up with alternative ways without leaving negative impact to the nature like man-elephant conflict. “I have visited more than sixty countries, most of them are developed. Where there is a will, there is a way,” he said. “I have a deep emotional relationship with Goalpara, deeper than any place in the world,”, he further added.

Hussain earlier went live on Facebook and expressed displeasure on the destruction of nature. He had also referred to noted cinema director Rima Das who has recently advocated for conserving the age old trees in Rural Kamrup areas.
