LAKHIMPUR: With a view to preventing the possible outbreak of pandemic COVID-19, the Dhakuakhana subdivisional administration served an order to close the ferry service from Dhakukakhana Tekeliphuta Ghat and Matmora Ghat to Disangmukh Ghat of Sivsagar district for an indefinite time. This order will come into immediate effect and no-ferry service can be made available until a further order is served, informed Dhakuakhana SDO-cum-Lakhimpur ADC Arindam Baruah.

The subdivisional administration launched an extensive awareness programme on COVID-19 across the subdivision in association with the officials of various departments. The subdivisional administration has established two control rooms, one at Dhakuakhana town and the other at Ghilamora, and launched two helpline numbers for providing information about the return of native people who are outside the State because of their jobs and services. At present, around 1,5000 people of the subdivision are outside the State and a few persons out of these came back home. They have been advised home isolation and observed for 14 days. On the other hand, a section of dishonest businessmen under the subdivision has exploited the common people by selling masks in high prices.
