LAKHIMPUR: The Dhakuakhana Electrical Subdivision Office denied the allegations made against it. The people of Kardaiguri under Pub Dhakuakhana area protested against the office by burning effigy, alleging despatching of electricity bill with high amount, despatching of the same to the consumers after electrical disconnection, despatching of such bill amounting to Rs. 200 to Rs. 1000 in the name of the husband and wife of the same family against one meter box and to several families living at Dakhin Chapori and Kardaiguri villages without installing meter boxes in their houses. The protesters alleged that the bulbs supplied to the beneficiaries by the office concerned under CM’s Akash Deep Yojana were also not useful.

Regarding these allegations, the Chief Executive Officer, North Lakhimpur Electrical Circle, APDCL Pranab Kumar Gogoi and Assistant Manager, North Lakhimpur Electrical Circle, APDCL Nipan Kumar Adhikari, addressed a press conference at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Thursday on behalf of Sunil Pegu, the Executive Engineer, Dhakuakhana Electrical Circle, APDCL.

Addressing the media persons, the CEO stated that the allegations were baseless and intended to humiliate the department. “Nothing is done from the end of the department as alleged. If the meter box turns defunct, bill is prepared on certain unit as per the guidelines of APDCL. No bill is despatched to any consumer if he is electrically disconnected following the departmental procedures. Two bills may be despatched if anyone takes electrical connection under Saubhagya or Din Dayal Upadhyay scheme even after having an old electrical connection. When it is informed to the authority concerned, one electrical connection is cancelled. Moreover, if any anomalies arise due to technical defect and we are informed about it by the consumer, we initiate immediate step to mitigate it,” he clarified. He added that the department, which was dedicated for public service, had not worked as per its own whims.
