Dhakuakhana locals demand RCC bridges over Sampora & Bolahi rivers

LAKHIMPUR: During the long 73 years of post-independent period, no RCC bridges have been constructed over rivers Sampora and Bolahi Jan along Batsara Shiva Mandir Tiniali-Mornoi Pamuwa Tiniali connecting Road at Fuskaramukh under Mornoi Gaon Panchayt area in Dhakuakhana LAC of Lakhimpur district. Due to the lack of the two bridges along two crucial roads under the LAC, thousands of people living in three Gaon Panchayats, namely Mornoi, Subansiri and Bilmukh, under Dhakuakhana LAC have to suffer a lot while communicating with other places every year.

Notably, the people of the large area covering the three Gaon Panchayats communicate with other places crossing the sandy river basin during the lean season, while the rivers go dry. But the rivers pose as hurdles in front of the people in rainy season. Then they have to communicate with other places by using traditional boats across the rivers with the risk of life. To get rid of possible danger, though the people of area or the local Gaon Panchayat or the MLA manage bamboo bridges over the rivers temporarily, they turn deplorable within a short period and accident prone to the people. The local people alleged that lots of accident had taken place in the area due to the deplorable condition of the bamboo bridges over the two rivers till the date.

Despite such circumstances, the people of the area, including the students have made their communication with the external world through the bamboo bridges, one over River Sampora along Fuskaramukh-Karanga connecting road and the other over Bolahi Jan along Nagpur-Karanga connecting road, year after year.

Under such circumstances, the people of the area have expressed vehement resentment over the long pending issue and demanded Dhakuakhana MLA cum P&RD Minister Naba Kumar Doley to take step and adopt schemes in order to construct the two bridges before the upcoming assembly election. Otherwise, they have issued threat to boycott the election.
