DHEKIAJULI: The Central Rongali Bihu Sanmilon Dhekiajuli, the main organization of Dhekiajuli which takes active role in organizing Bohag Bihu celebration centrally in Dhekiajuli, this year entered its 67th year. Its six-day long Bohag Bihu programme ended on Tuesday successfully.

On the occasion of Bohag Bihu, the Dhekiajuli Central Rongali Bihu Sanmilon organized the All Assam Mukoli Bihu and Bar Bihuwati competitions. These competitions were inaugurated by Rana Pratap Boruah, AJYCP central president. Dr Anil Saikia, prominent writer, researcher and retired professor, while participating as a chief guest in the All Assam Mukoli Bihu competition, said that in the Bihu songs, the message of love, reunion and separation was embodied with the help of an analogy. Dr Saikia elaborately explained the long history Bohag Bihu.

The Dhekiajuli Central Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee felicitated 9 local artists with a phulam gamusa, a japi and a citation. These artists are former Bihuwa Deven Kalita, Jogeswar Mahanta, Hiren Nath, Shivamoni Das, Golap Nath, Rupjyoti Kurmi, Papari Saikia, Manjula Phukan and Iswar Gopal Krishna Rabha. On Monday, which was the fifth day of Rongali Bihu celebration, the prize distribution and unveiling of books programme was held. Participating in that programme, Tonmoy Borah, Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle Officer, unveiled the mouthpiece of Dhekiajuli Central Rongali Bihu titled Biriya. In this meeting, RameshChandra Borah, veteran journalist, retired headmaster of Dhekiajuli Boys' High School and social worker, spoke elaborately about the significance of the three Bihu festivals of Assam.

In the concluding session, several prominent personalities attended and among were Ratul Kumar Nath, social worker and former Dhekiajuli Municipality Board chairman, Shankar Das, noted youth leader, and Dhruba Bhushan Mahanta, president of Dhekiajuli branch Xahitya Xabha.
