DHEKIAJULI: In a significant development, the Dhekiajuli Press Club officially expelled senior member and controversial RTI activist Dilip Nath. The decision was taken during an emergency meeting held on Thursday, following internal unrest and allegations related to Nath’s conduct.

The meeting, presided over by Press Club President Bhagaban Baishya, witnessed unanimous support from attending members. Concerns were raised regarding the recent assault on ND24 journalist Bimaljyoti Nath and Bipul Phayel, with several members alleging that Dilip Nath’s actions and affiliations had fostered discord within the journalistic community.

Sources indicated that the attack on executive members acted as a trigger for the emergency session, where multiple attendees demanded immediate and decisive action. Citing Nath’s controversial involvement in recent incidents and his alleged association with activities that compromised the club’s integrity, the members collectively called for his expulsion.

Following thorough deliberations, a formal resolution was passed to relieve Dilip Nath of all responsibilities and revoke his membership with immediate effect.

In an official statement, the Dhekiajuli Press Club said, “In the interest of preserving the unity, safety, and dignity of the journalistic community in Dhekiajuli, the club has unanimously resolved to expel Dilip Nath from all posts and associations with the Press Club, effective immediately.”

This development came amid rising tensions within the local media landscape, following a series of attacks and intimidation against journalists. The press club reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the values of journalism and safeguard its members against both external threats and internal disruptions.
