Dhubri DC Anant Lal Gyani Flags off Poshan Rath to Create Awareness

DHUBRI: As a part of POSHAN Maah 2019, Poshan Rath was flagged off by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani at Raja PC Barua Maidan on Friday in presence of a huge number of participants and officials of District Social Welfare Office, Public Health Engineering Department ,CDPOs, Swasth Bharat Prerak and Piramal Foundation, DTM (Education). Anant Lal Gyani appealed to the participants to create vigorous campaign on the five themes to uplift the parameter of the district. “Dhubri is one of the backward districts in Assam, so we need to go all out to ensure the good health of children, mother and adolescent girls,” Gyani added. Tasking out this Rath aims to create mass awareness by reaching nook and corner of the district on five themes – eradication of anemia, control of diarrhea, caring of children for first 1000 days, ensuring Poshtik Aahar(nutrious food) to children, practice and maintaining hygiene and sanitation. After flagging off from Dhubri, the participants walked about 3 kms in Dhubri town and then moved to other parts of the district. It visited the tea garden areas for reaching out to the beneficiaries and covered to and fro about 104 kms.

Poshan Maah activities got underway in Dhubri district with its first meeting of 14 Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and assistant statistical staff followed by supervisors’ meeting conducted by Dhubri District Family and Social Welfare department in the first week of September. Nearly 6,000 workers of 2959 Anganwadi centers in 14 blocks and 1941 ASHA and 527 ANMs in seven health blocks were trained by CDPOs and supervisors as to how to conduct the Poshan Maah activities. Anganwadi workers, ASHA and ANMs will target 3 lakh children between the age of 0-6 years in the 14 blocks. All the activists and officials associated with Poshan Maah carried out an extensive awareness campaign along with meeting and exhibition throughout the month in various parts of the district.
