BILASIPARA: The 10th district conference of the Communist Party of India (CPI), Dhubri district was held at Khoraghat with a daylong programme on Tuesday. In this connection, in the morning, the red flag of the party was hoisted by Kismat Ali while Nasir Uddin Ahmed offered floral tribute on the martyrs column.

There after the delegate session was started with the presidium consisting of Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Kismat Ali and Prakash Paul Choudhury in the chair. State Secretary, CPI Munin Mahanta attending the conference as state observer delivered the inaugural speech.

Dayal Paul, district secretary of the party, submitted the secretarial report along with accounts of income and expenditures. After prolonged discussion the meeting approved the report and the accounts. Thereafter dissolving the old committee the meeting formed a new committee with Mahesh Roy as district secretary, Faizul Hoque and Prakash Paul Choudhury as assistant secretaries.

The conference adopted a few important resolutions on sky rocketing price of essential commodities, fixation of remunerative prices of agricultural products, incorporation of labourers connected with construction works in the labour welfare scheme etc. In the afternoon, the open session of the conference was held at Khoraghat under the presidentship of Dayal Paul. Newly elected district secretary Mahesh Roy explained the aims and objectives of the meeting. The meeting was addressed by Kismat Ali, Subodh Mahanta, Nasir Uddin and Munin Mahanta. . The meeting ended with vote of thanks from the chair.
