
Dhubri: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Dhubri police arrested one person and seized a large quantity of suspected drugs, cash, and vehicles during a raid in Char Khalisamari village under Golakganj Police Station.
The raid was conducted following specific intelligence inputs at the residence of Ashoruddin Mandal (46), son of late Annu Mandal. The search led to the recovery of:
Heroin: Five soap boxes containing 59.61 grams and 38 vials containing 45.88 grams of suspected heroin (net weight, excluding packaging).
Yaba Tablets: 80 tablets of suspected Yaba, a highly addictive stimulant.
Cash: ₹3,02,400 in Indian currency, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
Vehicles: A Nissan Magnite (Registration No. WB 64 AD 5716) and a Hero Glamour motorcycle (Registration No. WB 64 J 7194), believed to have been used in trafficking.
Electronics: Three mobile phones seized for forensic analysis.
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against Ashoruddin Mandal, who is currently in custody. Authorities are investigating the source of the contraband and the suspect’s possible links to a broader trafficking network. Police officials stated that the operation is part of an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking in Dhubri district, which has witnessed a rising trend in narcotics-related cases in recent months.
Further investigations are underway, and officials did not rule out more arrests in connection with the case.
