Dhubri Tops in Number of Adult and Children Participation in Poshan Maah Abhiyan

DHUBRI: Dhubri district tops the list in adult participation with 13,505 while placed third in a number of activities after the second week of Poshan Maah Abhiyan. Darang district topped the list with 180 activities till September 17. Dhubri district also topped the list for participation by children with total 6,301, of which 2,845 were boys and 3,456 girls. In its 13 block, altogether 104 activities were held in Dhubri district wherein 13,505 people participated in the programmes. Along with all other departments converged, Swasth Bharat Prerak was also engaged in organizing and participating in the Jan Andolan of Poshan Abhiyan activities.

Arpita Saha of Swasth Bharat Prerak working in Dhubri district, while talking to The Sentinel, informed that bringing convergence and behavioural change were the main objectives of Poshan Abhiyan and the objective of the celebration of Poshan month was laying the foundation of behavioural change. “Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) took initiative to conduct a discussion on ‘No Child Marriage’ and ‘No Early Marriage,” Saha said. In Chapar-Salkocha Block, IFA and Calcium tablets were distributed in convergence with the Health Department while in Birsingh Jarua, the focus was on creating awareness on food fortification while Bilasipara and South Salmara blocks took the initiative and conducted awareness preventing anaemia.
