DIBRUGARH: Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha on Wednesday inspected the urban-flood affected areas of Convoy Road and Seujpur and took stock of the sorry state of affairs there.

Visiting Convoy Road along with ADC Ranjit Konwar; Executive Officer of Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB), Tarali Das and officers of the E and D Department, Jha monitored the acute flash floods that had plagued the area. He then ordered for the dismantling of all illegal settlements that were contributing to the artificial floods, apart from ordering for the blocked drains to be cleaned. Jha even interacted with the locals in a bid to find a permanent solution to the floods that were caused due to a high degree of waterlogging.

Jha then inspected the Seujpur area and directed the DMB, PWD (Roads) and National Divisional Department to clean the drains and de-clutter in places near Gabharupathar Tiniali, Seujpur and Assam Medical College and Hospitals. Later, as per the orders of Jha, DMB, Dibrugarh East Revenue Circle, PWD (Building) and National Divisional Department carried out a drive and dismantled many illegal structures being built over the drain in the Seujpur area.
