Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha holds meeting with affected people of Bogibeel bridge construction

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha had a meeting with the people affected due to the construction of the Bogibeel bridge on Thursday. The meeting revolved around rehabilitating those people whose livelihoods got adversely affected due to the mega project. Speaking to the people, Jha said that the Administration was presently paying utmost attention towards preparing a list of the affected people from both the banks of Brahmaputra, and added that it already had such a list.

He informed the gathering that the draft list will be put up in the Dibrugarh DC office, Dhemaji DC office and offices of the Village Panchayats of both the districts that are nearest to the bridge on June 7 for the ease and convenience of the genuine beneficiaries. Any objections or demands pertaining to the draft list can be filed within 15 days of the publishing of the same.

Accordingly, Dibrugarh Administration will publish the final list on June 29. It must be mentioned here that many people who were into providing inland ferry-services and other petty businesses found themselves against all odds with their sources of income drying up with the Bogibeel bridge in place. This affected lot had been demanding for rehabilitation for long.
