Dibrugarh Diocese donates to CM’s COVID relief fund

DIBUGARH: The Diocese of Dibrugarh donated a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh on behalf of the Catholic Christian community of Upper Assam to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to tide over the crisis emanating from the outbreak of COVID-19 on Friday. The Diocese of Dibrugarh, headquartered at Bishop’s House here, transferred the donation amount through NEFT from Federal Bank located here, Fr Philip Purty, the financial administrator of the Diocese informed. The Diocese of Dibrugarh, while expressing its solidarity, also made an appeal to all other institutions, organizations and establishments irrespective of creed, political affiliations and differences to voluntarily donate towards the cause of humanity. Bishop Joseph Aind, the prelate of the Christians in Upper Assam, said that collaborative effort from all sections could enhance the government’s effort in fighting the pandemic nature of the disease and in carrying out relief measures.
