DIBRUGARH: Students' union election 2022-23 of Dibrugarh H S Kanoi College was held on November 14 on online mode through a web-based application of LMS Software, which is the first of its type in the country.

This election process was conducted by Kanoi College authority with the help of the students' union. Total 17 contestants contested against 8 posts. From 9 am to 10 am, a mock poll was held and after the satisfaction of the contestants, the actual voting process started; and in the very first hour total 1,310 students cast their votes. Total 2,579 students out of 3,575 students cast their vote and the total percentage of voting was 72.14%.

Since 2018, voting process is being held in online mode, this year for the first-time nomination process was also completed in online mode. Students cast their vote from their registered mobile number using a one-time password from their convenient places.

The Principal of the college, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia expressed his gratitude to all the teachers, employees and students of the college for the peaceful completion of the voting process. He presented a certificate to all the teachers associated with the election process along with the winning candidates.

In this students' union election, Partha Pratim Gohain (1440) was elected as the president of the Students' Union. Chanakya Neog (1224) was elected in vice-president's post, Dhiraj Boruah (1343) as Secretary, Koushik Ranjan Chetia (1172) as Assistant General Secretary, Nihar Boruah (1310) as Music Secretary, Pankaj Dutta(1488) as Cultural Secretary, Abdul Rajjak as Gymnasium Secretary and Princhi Kalita as (1198) Girls' Common Room secretary, uncontested winning candidates are Lakhi Priya Kalita as Magazine Secretary, Priyanki Duwarah as Minor Games, Ballavjyoti Dutta as Debating Secretary and Shivam Sutradhar as Boys' Common Room secretary.

Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia thanked the president of the governing body, Abhimanyu Boruah, former Vice-Principal of the college, Narendra Mahela, Vice-Principal Dr Priyadev Goswami, and others. This election process set a rare example with the losing candidates presenting certificates to the winning contestants.
