DIBRUGARH: Northeast International Documentary and Film Festival (NIDFF), a first of its kind global film festival, is set to kick off in Dibrugarh from January 4 to January 8, 2023. The festival venue will be Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmal Kanoi College auditorium. NIDFF is a major venture by the Dibrugarh-based independent film production company Red Cardinal Motion Pictures (RCMP) with DHSK College as Associate Partner.

The festival aims at bridging the global film industry with that in Assam and Northeast India to facilitate the development of a holistic homegrown creative ecosystem. The objective is to provide special attention and avenues for north-eastern filmmakers, develop local talent and establish a global network, as a continuous effort.

NIDFF includes a three-day workshop from January 4 to January 6, 2023, encompassing the complete filmmaking pipeline from pre-production to post-production with master classes from RCMP personnel aimed at providing the technical know-how that goes hand-in-hand with the art of filmmaking and storytelling. In-person and remote panel discussions will be conducted on January 7 and January 8, covering topics such as copyright advocacy, entertainment business and creative aspects of the entertainment industry with national and international guest professionals and academics. Officially selected films will also be showcased during these days followed by an award ceremony on January 8 for the festival winners in different categories. Culminating the events of NIDFF will be the premiere of the much-anticipated feature film by Red Cardinal titled Jibonsobi.
