Dibrugarh town gears up for Chhath Puja

Dibrugarh: People are gearing up for the Chhath Puja celebrations with much alacrity, scheduled for November 13 and November 14. Since the festival involves ritual bathing and praying to the Sun God, almost the entire stretch of the riverbank of the town has come to life with colorful lighting and decorative gateways.

On the occasion, many ghats of the town have been earmarked for carrying out the rituals, including Guard Para, Panchali Ghat, Kachari Ghat, Tinkunia Ghat, Paltan Bazaar Ghat, and Mohanaghat Ghaat.

As per sources, adequate care has been taken in many respects, including lighting, sanitation, and decoration. Besides, cultural programmes, befitting the occasion, are also expected to be held at Kachari Ghat and Guard Para Ghat. For the convenience of the devotees observing fast, sufficient arrangements have been made. The district administration has also instructed the respective puja committees to ensure cleanliness and order during the festival. It has also directed Dibrugarh Municipality to erect watch towers for effective monitoring of the affairs.
