Dibrugarh's Chroma Biotech Signs MoU With Assam Government To Expand Tissue Culture Facility

Chroma Biotech has partnered with the Assam government to expand its Tissue Culture Facility, boosting biotechnology, agriculture and job opportunities in the region.

GUWAHATI: Chroma Biotech Pvt Ltd, a company from Dibrugarh, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam government to expand its Commercial Tissue Culture Facility in the state. This deal aims to improve biotechnology and agriculture in the region. The signing took place in the presence of Science, Technology, and Climate Change Minister Keshab Mahanta, Guwahati Biotech Park CEO Deba Kumar Mishra, and Department Secretary Pallav Jha.

As per the MoU, the Assam government will support Chroma Biotech in obtaining the necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, and clearances from relevant departments and agencies. This initiative aligns with the state's policies to promote investment and technological growth in the biotechnology sector.

Chroma Biotech praised Assam's active efforts in industrial growth and investment. Its subsidiary, Chroma Nurseries located in Bhonga Ali Mohanaghat, Amolapatty, Dibrugarh, is helping advance agricultural and biotech research through tissue culture projects.

This expansion is expected to further strengthen Assam’s position as a growing hub for biotechnology and agritech innovations, paving the way for enhanced research, employment opportunities, and sustainable agricultural practices.

Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange (NSE), India’s top stock exchange, and the Government of Assam signed MoU at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit to launch a training program for Assam's youth in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

Assam is the 4th state, after Uttarakhand, Meghalaya and Chhattisgarh, to partner with NSE on skilling youth. The MoU was exchanged between Narayan Konwar, Secretary, Higher Education Department, Government of Assam, and Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer, NSE, in the presence of Ranoj Pegu, Minister for Higher Education, School Education, and Tribal Affairs, Government of Assam, on February 26 at Guwahati.
