LAKHIMPUR: Be it pecuniary difficulty or physical disability, neither can pose as a hurdle in achieving success if a person has strong will power and works hard. This has been proved by a differently-abled student of Lakhimpur district hailing from an economically backward family under Dhakuakhana subdivision who secured 78 per cent marks in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam, result of which was declared on June 6. The student is Jadab Pator, son of Joyram Pator and Renu (Nirmola) Pator, residents of No. 2 Bahpora village under Matmora Gaon Panchayat of the subdivision.
Differently-abled Jadab brought laurels to the area by achieving 78 per cent marks in the HSLC exam. He is a student of Bahpora High School. Jadab's father Joyram Pator is a hearing-impaired person who runs his family of five members as a wage earner. Jadab's mother also works in order to support the family. The family has not received the benefits of any government scheme till day, apart from the rice distributed to the families Below Poverty Line (BPL). The family lives in a deplorable house and has not been covered under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The house lacks electrification, sanitary latrine and pure drinking water supply. Under such circumstances, Jadab was able to perform well in the HSLC exam by studying on his bed as he does not have a reading table and chair. Jadab, who went to school on a wheelchair, dreams of pursuing higher education. Such a meritorious student needs the attention of the State Government and benevolent people who can help him fulfil his dreams.
