Digboi Refinery conducts off-site Disaster Management Drill

DIGBOI: Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) Assam Oil Division (AOD) Digboi Refinery conducted an off-site disaster management drill on Tuesday in Digboi with active cooperation of Tinsukia district administration officials, local NGOs and officials of AOD Digboi Refinery.

The drill was conducted in presence of Sumit Sattavan, SDO Civil Margherita. The HSE department of Digboi Refinery drafted the entire action plan of the drill and ensured its successful execution.

This stringent check on disaster management preparedness unfolded with a created scenario of accident at the New Tank Farm Area. As the scenario unfolded, all responsible departments swung into action to meet the objectives. The entire chain of events from pre-planning to action and review post event were carried out meticulously.

The entire proceeding involved fire fighting, dramatized rescuing of the injured and bringing them to the first aid centre. The residents and students of nearby Rashtriya Vidyalaya were evacuated and brought to the relief camp. Subsequent to the all-clear siren, an important de-briefing session was held where all the key observers shared their observations to understand how each role was executed.

The dignitaries expressed their views and encouraged the team to follow alert works and safety systems at all times. The objectives of the drill were to sensitize about the potential hazards of petroleum products and at the same time building confidence by demonstrating the functioning of available resources.
