SIVASAGAR: The e-District Sivasagar is set to reach a major milestone of issuing 1 lakh digitally-signed certificates through online portal. Rezowan Ul Roshid, District Manager, Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication (DITEC), Sivasagar told The Sentinel that the portal had received 1,11,081 petitions and 95,619 digitally signed certificates have been issued over the past five years.

Sivasagar district is offering 12 Citizen Centric Services under the e-District Project. These include Permanent Residence Certificate for Higher Education, permission for Delayed Birth Registration, permission for Delayed Death Registration, Scheduled Caste Certificate, non-creamy layer certificate, Next of Kin certificate, Senior Citizen certificate, certified Copy of electoral roll, Bakijai Clearance certificate, income certificate, permission for fair events / meeting and permission for special events under 144.

The main aim of the e-District Project is to provide online government-issued certificates to the citizens in hassle-free and transparent manner. Presently, the portal allows citizens to apply for certificates through the Public Facilitation Centre set up at the DC's Office, SDO Office and CO Office, CSC at village level and UMANG app available in Playstore. Moreover, citizens also can apply through their own laptop or desktop. Presently, UMANG App is providing only five services.

Expressing satisfaction over the project, Roshid said that during this pandemic, citizens were availing the online services from their locality through CSC and citizen account due to availability of use of technology.

The application status can also be tracked / viewed online through https://edistrict.assam.gov.in , SUGAM App and UMANG App. If the documents are in order, the digitally signed certificate is made available to the citizen, which can then be downloaded and printed from respective PFC / CSC / any internet-enabled computer, he further said.
