HAFLONG: The people of Dima Hasao district, one of the hill districts of Assam, have reason to celebrate as the district is getting a medical college under the centrally-sponsored scheme of establishment of new medical colleges, a highly-placed source disclosed.
The PAC has approved an amount of Rs 100 lakh for the medical college in the district. The site for the medical college will be in Dehangi considering other facilities like water supply and communication since Dehangi is located almost at the central point of the district. The Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa expressed happiness while sharing the news that a new medical college would be set up in Dima Hasao district. He thanked the Central Government, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Health and Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and ministers Chandan Brahma and Pijush Hazarika for their cooperation in granting new medical college for the district.
Apart from the new medical college, Dima Hasao will also get two major roads like Lanka to Umrangso via Diyungmukh, Haflong Tinali and Panimur under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) on Turnkey Basis and Diyungbra to Jatinga under Assam Mala.
