Kheroni Charali: The Diphu–Hamren main road—located just three kilometres from the PWD Sub-Division office in West Karbi Anglong—has deteriorated into a perilous stretch, leaving residents, students, farmers, government staff, and traders frustrated by inaction from authorities.
This road is a lifeline, connecting Donkamokam—the home of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member—to the district headquarters Hamren and the rest of the region. Commuters now navigate crumbling surfaces filled with potholes, fissures, and uneven patches—some lying untouched for months.
A recent oil tanker accident on the same road underscored the dangers. Waterlogging and slippery conditions during rain only exacerbate the risk, leading to delays, transport disruption, and costly damage.
Residents voiced mounting anger. A local trader described the daily ordeal: “This road is a daily nightmare. Students, farmers suffer, officials remain indifferent.” Given the road's proximity to the PWD office, many express confusion over the blatant neglect and demand immediate repairs and accountability.
