TEZPUR: The Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur Deba Kumar Mishra has issued several directives and taken measures to ensure peace and order during the upcoming Durga Puja. Accordingly, the puja organizing committees are required to maintain cleanliness in the puja mandaps and display posters and banners of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, phone numbers of the control rooms set up by the district administration and police administration.

According to these directives, no temporary puja mandaps/ravas can be erected on the roads. Only 5 to 10 people are allowed to gather during the inauguration and immersion of the puja mandap. Therefore, it is necessary to take the idols directly from the puja mandap to the 'bisarjan' ghat during the 'bisarjan'. Every volunteer at the immersion ghat is required to take the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

In addition, it is compulsory to deploy adequate volunteers inside the puja mandaps and install CCTV cameras and each puja committee is required to pay Rs 1,200 for the immersion arrangements.

The Deputy Commissioner has taken several measures to ensure the safety of the devotees as follows: Separate entrances and exits to the puja mandaps shall be provided for men and women; The Puja Organizing Committee must have a sufficient number of volunteers. There is a need to establish an auxiliary room to assist the devotees according to their needs. All puja mandaps are required to have fire extinguishers available. The process of immersion must be completed before sunset. The electricity department can connect electricity to the puja mandaps only after seeing the permission letter from the commissioner's office.

The district administration has also opened a control room with the numbers 9435371672 / 03712-220100 and 7086993898. Deba Kumar Mishra urged all the puja organizing committees and the people of the district to cooperate with the guidelines set by the district administration.
