GUWAHATI: A disability assessment and UDID registration camp for persons with disabilities (PWDs) under Rani ICDS project, Kamrup district was on Friday organized in collaboration with the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup, and NGO Assam Centre for Rural Development (ACRD) in Barpratima village under Rani Block.
A total of 207 PwDs from various villages of Rani Block were screened by a team of specialised doctors like Orthopaedics, Eye Specialists, Psychologists, etc for online registration and instant issue of UDID cards.
"The district administration has taken steps in the right direction to ensure no one is left out from the process of receiving disability certificates and UDID cards. The camp today has benefitted many PwDs including children with disabilities who hadn't received disability certificates earlier or UDID cards. Since the process of applying for UDID cards is done online, many had failed to do earlier, but after today's camp, they will receive the cards within a day or two. We hope more such camps will be held in the future for the benefit of the PwDs of the district," said Prerna Changkakati, Executive Director, Assam Centre for Rural Development, stated a press release.
